Who are three Cardinals that have never been in my kitchen?

My brother won the College Jeopardy! Championship in 2009. I am fairly certain that I brag about that fact more than he does. Constantly hearing, “Can you answer that in a form of a question?” will weary a person, I suppose.

But me? I was George Bailey, and he was my hero brother returning from the war, The day after he won, I went to Schnucks, bought a copy of the Post-Dispatch, and showed everyone the article detailing his win: the checker, the bagger, a curmudgeonly capitalist.

I wasn’t surprised by his win. When he qualified for the show I was supremely confident. Trivia has always been a family pastime and over the years, whether it be text message or in person, we try to stump each other in trivia. I’ve tried to pass the tradition to my children, but, as the years progress, my little quiz masters have lost enthusiasm. The last time we drove to Hilton Head, I asked the who could tell me the first state to secede from the Union. All I heard in response was the unmistakable increase in volume of the backseat Nintendo.

As much as I pride myself on my trivia - especially Cardinal trivia - I made a blunder yesterday on Twitter. In the excitement of Jordan’s Walker’s third home run in as many games, I tweeted that only Musial and Pujols had hit home runs in four straight games as Cardinals. Anathema.

I had confused ABs and games as, of course, a plethora of Cardinals have hit a home run in four straight games - some even more! - but only Musial and Pujols have hit home runs in 4 straight at-bats.

As penance, I created a 50 question quiz about the Cardinals and wanted to offer prizes to those who were able to score the highest.

I tried to pull from most eras of Cardinal history for the questions and hopefully there is a good mix of lay-ups, middle of the pack, and stumpers. Although if you are a loyal reader, some of the stumpers may in fact be layups.

I also put a timer on the quiz, all 50 questions must be answered in 10 minutes. This is hopefully to dissuade anyone from using AI or Google assistance. Honor amongst Cardinal fans, of course.
